Dear Parent:
We are getting ready to begin a new unit on the Jeffersonian Era, the time period between 1796 and 1812. Your child will be learning about political parties, the Louisiana Purchase, the life of a pioneer, Conestoga wagons, and events leading up to the War of 1812. He/she will be completing one of three culminating activities and will complete a pre and post test. We will be going on a field trip to Henry Clay’s historic home, Ashland. There you child will get to learn about daily life and the types of plants, specifically trees, that were grown in the area. I am posting the permission form that will need to be returned before the day of the trip and will send a copy home with your child. The date of the trip will be placed on the class calendar.
